Metals & Care

Precious Metals

18 karat solid gold

At Braccialetti, we concentrate on 18 karat gold.

Expressed in percentage terms, 18 karats is equal to 75% gold content. The other 25 % usually consists of other metals such as zinc, copper, or nickel.

18 karat gold is the most commonly used precious metals in fine jewelry making due to its color and durability. Distinct advantages of 18 karat gold is that it is less likely to cause allergic reaction. Another upside of 18 karat gold is its vibrant color, closest as it gets to pure gold. 18 karat does not fade and is durable against perfumes and lotions.

Care:
Although gold is known to be very strong and vibrant, like any other jewelry, it requires love and care. Simply rub with gentle soap and lukewarm water, scrub with tooth brush then you will get an almost like new piece of jewelry!

Precious and semiprecious gemstones

We also have gemstones pieces which are those amongst high quality; ranging from sapphires, ruby, emeralds, aquamarine and many more. Gemstones are genuine mineral stones that are highly valued for their beauty, longevity and rarity. Gemstones are also sometimes used as lucky charms as people believe certain stones bring luck and happiness.

Care:
To care for gemstones, it is best to avoid perfumes or creams, despite their durability. These stones are natural, hence, they have reactions to chemicals. Also, it is best to avoid direct sunlight as it may cause colors to fade.

Pearls

We use many types of pearls from the highest quality pearls from Akoya, fresh water pearls and south sea pearls. In some of our pieces, we also use synthetic pearls, which will be clearly stated in the description of each items.

Care:
Pearls are highly sensitive to chemicals. Avoid contact with perfumes, creams or soaps.
It is best to gently wipe them with jewelry cloth. Avoid sunlight.
